Marriages are made in heaven! It might be a little hard to believe this statement if you feel like your marriage is on the verge of falling apart. What is not so emotionally healthy is if you are in a bad marriage but are only clinging to each other because of habit and familiarity.

Here are some signs you should look out for which mean that your marriage is going down and is headed towards divorce.


Boycott the family
One sure sign is when you stop going to the family get together. In fact, you and your partner are never seen together. You barely go out, and are always making an excuse for the other person’s absence. The scary part is you don’t even miss the person and it is almost a norm for the two of you not to be seen together. It is a sure sign that your marriage is doomed.


You don’t care
At the beginning of your relationship, you did whatever it took to make him or her happy. Now you don’t even make the slightest effort to try and make things work. When you stop caring about where your partner is, how his or her day was, you don’t do anything remotely romantic or compassionate and have basically lost all interest in your partner or their well-being, it only means that the love is dying, and if you don’t do anything about it, so will your marriage.


The sex factor
This is a touchy subject but is often the first thing that stops when a marriage is on the rocks. If your relationship was once sizzling with sexuality and now seems like the inside of a cold refrigerator, it’s time to wake up and smell the coffee. Sex is not the only thing in life, but when two people who are married find it hard to get physically intimate, something is very wrong for sure.


No time
If you are spending all your free time with your friends or would rather spend time working than going back home, you are on you way to divorce. If it is impossible for you and your partner to stand each other’s company, things are bound to get nasty. This can take the form of going out with friends exclusively, or even resorting to the diversions of drugs and alcohol.


On your own
When a couple starts to function independently of each other and live in the same house but lead completely separate lives, in many ways the divorce has already happened. From owning a home together and sharing bills, if you suddenly find yourselves having different cars, bank accounts, investments etc. means you have on some level, already separated.


Can’t go home
Has stepping through your front door become an act of labour instead of pleasure? You may find yourself inventing reasons not to go home, such as working late or enjoying an abnormally long happy hour with your mates.


Always fighting
If you and your partner have reached a point in life where it is impossible for you to talk without arguing or fighting things are already ugly and beyond repair. Even if you try to talk you never seem to reach common ground and each fight gets worse with time. If you have gone from being a loving couple to being nasty and abusive towards each other it is time to move on.


The third party
If all the above apply to your relationship, the final nail in the coffin is when one of you starts to have an affair. If your marriage is already in trouble, the affair is bound to end it. From this point it will be difficult to go back because infidelity is not something that is easy to forgive or forget.

A marriage is not all fun and games; it takes a certain level of maturity and understanding for two people to make a marriage work. Your happiness is what counts most, so try to work things out and only opt for divorce if nothing else works.
